The Urban Environment: Mirror and Mediator of Radicalisation

The research project pursued the question how polarisation becomes materially imprinted in a city and how material aspects of a city might actually influence (accentuate or alleviate) polarisation processes. It compares the situation in four cities and speculates about ways in which architecture and urban design might contribute to reconciliation processes by tackling some of the spatial and material conditions of stereotypisation, mutual fear, lack of spaces for friendly encounters etc.

The Institute of Creative Advertising & Design (ICAD) rewards creative excellence in the industry through its awards. The 2008 awards were particularly special, as they coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Institute. This exhibition represents those that reached exhibition standard in 2008, and illustrates the very high standards of creative excellence in this country.

Well I attended the end of year show at my university this year and it was as large as ever. The work that was displayed was well presented and it showed, the overall standard was of a very high quality and there was a few places in particular I really thought stood out for me personally. The photographs where from visual communications, architecture,  print, and textiles (just so you guys have an idea what was on show) fantastic turn out of people, a really enjoyable night for anyone.
